proj_descThe education of women is a fundamental aspect of the prosperity of a society. This project focuses on changes in the lives of women in China and Japan over the last 50 years specifically looking at the impact of a college education for women and how that affects their expectations of the future in the arenas of family and work. I propose to work with two honors program students to in-put the remaining data from the surveys and observations that have been conducted over the last 15 years (roughly 660 when completed). The students will also be conducting interviews and collecting survey data with Cal Poly women to provide a basis of comparison. The aim of this project is to produce a conference paper that will eventually be published in a peer reviewed journal. If accepted this project will appeal to humanities, women
inter_descThe project involves social science research techniques of survey data collection, interviewing techniques used in a variety of disciplines such as sociology, history, education, cross cultural studies and women's studies.
